Getting into music video auditions

My friend Jessie is the most wonderfull dancer I have ever met. Following some appearences in a some music videos, just last week I cought up with her and she gave me an interview for my newspaper on what should you do and what should you not do to get into a music video.

"Hi Jessie, thanks for accepting this interview. First of all, please tell me how was staring in all those music videos?"

"Hello to you too. I can tell you that I had the most wonderful experience during those music videos, even though I had to work so very hard."

"And how did you find out about the auditions?"

"The most efficient way: I searched the Internet. I found a lot of web sites with directions to the places & times of the auditions. I tell you, if you're looking for music video auditions, just start browsing music-related sites, and you'll find what you were looking for in no-time. Dancing contests are also a good start point. Many companies send "spies" to make contact with the best dancers around, and offer them a spot in a music video. I think no matter where you are: at a contests, in a club, in an audition, you always should do your best to impress the people with your dancing. If you're feeling sick or you don't think you can handle it, just reschedule or explain to everybody you cannot perform your dance. I think this is most important, because in dancing, the first impression counts a lot if you're trying to establish a long-term relationship."

"From your experience, what tips can you teach those who want to audition in a music video?"

"First of all, I think they should try to be themselves. Just keep in mind that the people you're talking to have previously watched hundreds of other dancers, so they're looking for that "one spark" that can lighten up the room, so you should just be confident in your ability to dance. Second, you should always come prepared, wheather the auditions require a certain style of clothing, a demo video tape, or an already-prepared dance routine. If you want the job, you must do your homework impecably."
