Whether you’re young, old, male, female, genius or a complete idiot, you can take your chance. That’s the fun part! It’s all in making a good impression. They’re not looking for somebody in particular, but that doesn’t mean that you already have the job. You’ll probably be saying something like: “Well, if they’re not looking for somebody in particular and I’m not looking for something in particular, what the heck am I doing here?”

That’s the second fun part! Open casting calls it’s all about anonymity. You’ll probably end up being the maid, the car driver, the security guard or maybe the beauty-queen! So, leave your “celebrity over the night” thoughts at home, at prepare to make it step by step.

Well, to get into an open casting, you must first find one. The best place to search is, yes, you’ve guessed it, the Internet! Just do a search on ‘open casting calls’ and you’ll find what you’re looking for. There are two types of web-sites where you can find such information: film studio web-sites that are directly involved in the casting, or web-sites that are focused on acting, modeling & dancing, and they post dates and times of different castings. So just make a list of the places you want to go, put on your best clothes, leave your stage fright and performance anxiety at home, and finally wish yourself the best of luck!

The first thing you will notice on an open casting call is the long line of people. You’ll probably be thinking that somebody’s giving out money for free, but then again, you’ll be a little disappointed that you’re a little late for the casting. Then you’ll probably think: “I’ll come back tomorrow, just a couple of hours before the casting starts”. Trust me, the next day the line will only be longer. So just make sure that you don’t need to go to the toilet and you already had lunch, and only then you may proceed to the end of the line.

After a few hours of waiting, you’ll probably get in, but you would’ve also lost half the desire and passion you had when you had arrived. So, just freshen up, look really happy to be there, and prepare for the test. From this point on, the actor/actress in you must come out and prove everybody that they’re dealing with a born talent!
