Enter the search for your talent

An unharvested talent can be described this way: you know you're good at it, your family says you're good at it, your friends say you're good at it, but nobody else knows about it. So, basically, all you have to do is let the world know what you're all about. At first it may sound easy, you'll probably be saying: "Hey, if I am that good, then I just need that ONE BREAK!". Well, that one break may prove to be very difficult to obtain, and sometimes, it really is not enough.

Find people that search for your talent

Before doing anything else, you have to ask and answer yourself a few questions: "What is it I am very good at?" (acting, dancing, writing), "Where can I use my talent?" (a live performance, a movie, a contest), then finally: "How will I get hired?". You will probably think: "I just have to search for a job! How hard can it be?". Well, it can be pretty hard. A lot of people who are really talented don't have a job doing what they want to do, mainly because that can't find a good job!

So, you should know how everything works. First, somebody needs a talent. Most of the time, they hire an agency to look for that talent. The agency will then search its database, which contains a lot of info on people who apply, and will come up with a number of candidates for the position. If you want to be one of those candidates, you must be in the agency’s database. So, start applying! Most agencies require a head shot, talent, audio/video demo tapes and portfolio (if you have one).

Other times, the talent seekers will not be as “visible” as these agencies. When the performers have no idea they are begin “watched”, they act naturally, not trying to impress anyone in particular, and many times this proves to be this is a good argument for talent seekers who attend contests and performances. They only reveal their identity after the end of the event, if they like somebody’s performance.

Also, many universities have implemented talent search programs which help them to better identify, assess and recognize students with a certain talent.

Either way you look at it, if you have a talent, you should get in touch with somebody who can help you make the most of it, and not let it go to waste.
